QROWD partner, the Comune di Trento – QROWD project’s pilot Smart City – presented our solution to dynamically obtain Modal Split indicators in the Smart City Expo World Congress 2018 in Barcelona.
Giacomo Fioroni, Head of the Smart City Office of The Municipality of Trento, referred to the innovation brought about by using QROWD’s solution to calculate the percentage of travellers using a particular type of transport.
From citizen sensing, using AI and ML on Big Data and validating through questions, the total modal split is calculated through advanced data analysis and shown on a dashboard. The engagement strategy component is not neglected and confirms that the presence of the human factor can yield better data and validate algorithms.
The benefits of this smart solution are that the modal split can be calculated more frequently and accurately, in less time and involving lower costs.
