Our partner Trento has been ranked as the first smart medium size city in Italy in 2017. Trento ranks fifth among Italian metropolitan cities, according to the official national smart city ranking announced within the iCityLab2017.
The ICity Lab annual meeting was held in Milan on 24 and 25 October. The ICity Lab is a place and moment for reflection, discussion and debate on Smart cities among local entities, administrations, innovative firms, regional stakeholders and citizens who address digital innovation, utilities, 4.0 manufacturing, and participation in urban re-generation. It supports those who work to make Italian cities more intelligent.
The focus is on renovating the way cities are governed, and include multilevel management by the administrations and the firms supplying public services. The heart of the matter is in co-designing local services such as public transport, and others like urban refuse and energy distribution.
From the citizens’ point of view it is seen not only as a duty but in fact as a right, facing the challenge of co-projecting the great public works that impact daily life, by participating in order that emerging social needs are satisfied.
