QROWD at the Smart City Expo World Congress
Between November 19th and 21st, the Smart City Expo World Congress (SCEWC) took place in Barcelona where more than 400 international in urban development, technology and mobility convened to share insights and learn best practices for a more sustainable urban world. This represents a new and exciting worldwide dialogue which shapes the next steps for urban development.
The Municipality of Trento has taken part in the SCEWC for the second year in a row. Last year’s pitch was about the modal split computation using the innovative tools provided by the project. And this 2019, the Municipality of Trento has pitched about the innovative solution of the QROWD project to map mobility items such as bike racks and parking spots. This solution consists of two different tools: (Read more here)
– the i-Log app for the citizens of Trento to verify the information collected.(More information about this here)These solutions enable the municipality to overcome the costs associated (i.e., conducting ad hoc surveys or sending public officers to check urban facilities), and provide an innovative solution for gathering information in an especially difficult city like Trento, given its walled structure. The Municipality can use this platform to request as many mapping sessions as it needs to keep the maps up to date. Furthermore, the Municipality can ask the citizens of Trento to go for an on-field validation using the i-Log app that allows them to confirm the location of the items and provide useful information (e.g. type, capacity).
The positive answer shown by the assistants confirmed again the existing interest about solutions for automating and integrating sources of information from citizens in Smart Cities.
